Assignment overview

Within a high-tech innovation environment focused on aerospace and sustainability, this role sits at the intersection of technology, policy and collaboration. You contribute to accelerating the transition toward more sustainable aviation by supporting strategic programs, innovation roadmaps and multi-stakeholder initiatives.

You operate in a setting where research, industry and government meet. The focus is not only on managing projects, but on structuring direction: translating developments in technology, regulation and market dynamics into concrete steps, aligned roadmaps and actionable insights.

Your role

As Project Manager, you support and strengthen strategic initiatives aimed at decarbonising aviation. You contribute to shaping roadmaps and innovation programs, while ensuring alignment between stakeholders with different interests, speeds and perspectives.

You work closely with partners across industry, knowledge institutes and public sector organisations. This requires the ability to structure complexity, guide collaboration and convert input into clear outputs that drive decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support execution of strategic programs related to sustainable aviation and energy transition
  • Translate developments in technology, market and policy into concrete actions, insights and next steps
  • Contribute to the development and structuring of long-term visions and roadmaps
  • Prepare and facilitate interactive sessions such as workshops, think tanks and deep dives
  • Align stakeholders across industry, academia and government, balancing interests and expectations
  • Support communication of results through presentations, reports and external positioning
  • Consolidate diverse inputs into clear, structured and well-supported outputs

Expected results

  • Clearly structured roadmaps supporting sustainable aviation initiatives
  • Actionable insights derived from complex technological and policy developments
  • Well-prepared and effective multi-stakeholder sessions
  • Strong alignment between involved parties, enabling progress and decision-making
  • High-quality communication outputs supporting strategy and positioning.

Requirements

  • Experience in project management, business development or a comparable domain
  • Background in industrial design engineering
  • Affinity with or knowledge of sustainable aviation, energy transition or aerospace innovation
  • Strong analytical and organisational capabilities
  • Ability to translate complex topics into clear and actionable insights
  • Experience or affinity with facilitating workshops and co-creation sessions
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across different domains
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work in multidisciplinary environments
  • Strong communication skills, including storytelling and structuring narratives
  • Based in the Netherlands or willing to work on-site

Preferences

  • 2–3 years of relevant experience (starters with strong potential also considered)
  • Experience in innovation environments or R&D contexts
  • Familiarity with methodologies such as design thinking, agile or scrum
  • Dutch language skills

You will be part of a compact and highly driven innovation team operating within a broader international aerospace ecosystem. The environment is dynamic, research-driven and focused on long-term impact. Themes include energy transition, sustainable fuels, advanced materials and future aircraft operations.

The assignment offers exposure to national and international strategic developments, where your contribution directly influences how innovation translates into real-world implementation.

Why this assignment stands out

This is not a traditional project management role focused on delivery alone. You operate in a space where direction is still being shaped. That means working with uncertainty, aligning different perspectives and building structure where it does not yet fully exist.

You are not only managing progress, but helping define what progress looks like.

Does your experience align with complex stakeholder environments, innovation programs and translating strategy into action?
