Legal Counsel

The Business Area Markets maximises the value portfolio by optimizing and dispatching, hedging and sourcing for assets and sales positions. We offer purchase agreements to operators, optimize 3rd party and enter into origination deals within the B2B segment. We serve as single market access to commodity markets trading. We are responsible for generating profits by taking positions within defined risk mandates and limits. We are active across Europe with more than 450 professionals working from Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, and Denmark. The legal department of BA Markets supports the business with all its diversified activities.

We are currently looking for a Legal Counsel in BA Markets Netherlands, Staff Function Legal & CEO Office

Main tasks & responsibilities:
•    Provide high quality legal support to enable the business to transact in a wide range of areas and for multiple locations as mentioned above
•    Ensuring awareness of legal risks, regulatory compliance and responsibilities
•    Coordinate and prioritize own work efficiently and maintaining a solid interaction with the business in order to translate business objectives, goals and strategy into concrete legal advice
•    Manage external legal resources in a result focused and cost effective way
•    Report to the Manager Legal BA Markets Netherlands 

Qualifications and personal characteristics for the position
•    A law graduate and professionally qualified business lawyer with several years of experience in a commercial (international) environment with specific interest for the renewable energy sector
•    Strong analytical and communication skills and the ability to organize work effectively to meet critical deadlines
•    Self-motivated and ability to grasp complex areas of law rapidly and accurately 
•    Exhibiting sound practical judgment and a result oriented attitude
•    Intercultural understanding and willingness to travel
•    Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
